Norah Hippolyte (Pastoral Assistant)
Norah Hippolyte was born on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception,
December 8, in 1958. She was baptized at Sacred Heart Church in
Oakland, received First Communion at St. Leo’s and was confirmed
at Sacred Heart. Norah first met Msgr. Connolly when she had to
ask permission to be confirmed at Sacred Heart. She attended Sacred
Heart Grammar School and graduated from Holy Names High School
in 1977. Norah is the mother of three children, Dominique, Phillipe
and Jon-Paul and the grandmother of La’Devonta and Haddiyah.
Norah began as a volunteer Children’s Liturgy Presider at
St. Leo the Great in 1990 and her involvement has increased over
the years. Norah has served as a member of the Parish Council
and the Stewardship Committee. Norah now oversees Christian Enrichment
(Religious Education), the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
and Children, parish registrations, infant baptisms and assists
the pastor, Fr. Timothy Johnson, in various tasks. She became
a part time paid staff member in 1997. Norah serves the Diocese
of Oakland as a member of the Lay Ecclesial Ministers Council.
Norah enjoys reading, cooking, singing and a good homily. She
looks forward to meeting all the members of the parish and increasing
her faith life.
